Rivenrock began as the mountain retreat of a Scottish-born New Yorker. When it was restored, the goal was never to modernize it beyond recognition — the two-year renovation kept the Old Hickory furniture, the tartan wool, and the original stonework, while quietly bringing the plumbing, kitchens, and comfort up to a five-star standard.
A double-height stone fireplace anchors the great room, ringed by leather and plaid seating built for wet waders and late conversation. It's the room guests tend to remember best — equal parts hunting lodge and living room.
Mounted trophies, sporting art, and pieces collected over generations line the halls — nothing staged for a photo shoot, all of it original to the lodge's history as a private retreat before it welcomed guests.
